The ECSR at policy roundtable of the European Parliament Research Service
On 11 November 2019, the ECSR presented at the European Parliament Research Service the agenda "Promoting social mobility and equal opportunieties: The challenge for Europe".
Income inequality within advanced OECD countries have been on a steady rise in the last decades, and there is a growing concern that high levels of inequality are associated to low level of intergenerational social mobility. What do we know about chances of social mobility in Europe? To what extent can educational and labour market policies contribute to more equal societies? What are the limitations and even side effects of popular solutions to improve equality of opportunities?
The entire presentation can be found here.
The ECSR supports the Central European University in Budapest
On 20 April 2017, the ECSR sent letters of support for the academic freedom of the Central European University in Budapest to the Culture and Education Committee Chairman of the European Parliament, to the Vice President of the European Commission and to the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.
ECSR on Twitter
The ECSR now has a Twitter account, @ECSR_Soc.
With the Twitter account, we can easily disseminate announcements, job vacancies, etc. If your institution/department has its own Twitter account, it would be reasonable to follow @ECSR_Soc. Please also communicate this to your individual members, so they can receive updates from the ECSR directly.
Your communication with the ECSR will not change; as an institutional representative, you will still receive e-mails by the ECSR, which you can pass on to your students, department members etc. However, following the @ECSR_Soc on Twitter enables individual scholars or students to have a more direct access to the information provided by the ECSR Secretariat.
